I cannot get enough of homsense, not only are there so many good bargains on decent home stuff, the staff are always so friendly and lovely, I just bought a huge terracotta pot for £35 (defo worth over £50) and the lovely lady that served me carried it out the store and into the back of a taxi for me, now thats what I call amazing customer service, and very much appreciated by me, thanks Amy!

The shop is pretty nice but I did have an uncomfortable time with one of the workers there. I didn't catch his name but a tall curly brown haired man was working behind the counter 7/5/2026 just before 14:00 and I had entered the store with a drink with just ice in the bottom and completely empty. When I approached the till and asked, "Is there a bin i can put this in?". He answered, "We usually say no food or drink in the store". My response to this, "Fair enough", they probably don't want food or drink making bad smells in the bin behind the till, absolutely fine, I left the till and took my cup to the nearby pub instead to throw it away. But when I returned a couple minutes later to continue shopping with my partner he was talking loudly about my question with a co-worker and laughing at how absurd the encounter was. This not only confused me as the encounter was purely casual, not funny or confusing, but massively uncomfortable for me to the point I couldn't even approach the till and left the store when he walked across the ground floor to go downstairs near where I was stood. Working in retail myself I understand how mundane the job is and seeking fun and laughs during the job get you by, but not at the expense of the people coming into the store, it's just rude. I hope he treats other customers a little better.

Brighton Store Manager: I came into Homesense twice yesterday (27th of April) between 12:00 and 16:30. The first time I entered the alarm went off, the man working there said he could remove the tag for me but I explained it was only my personal items in my bag, keys, jacket and water bottle, I don't carry make up in my bag and I hadn't been shopping anywhere else to warrant setting off the alarm. He said he can still check for me or I can leave it, I said no thank you it is only my personal items in my bag and he walked away from me while I was mid sentence. Rude. I leave the shop and the alarm doesn't go off. I come back later to buy something I saw the first time I went in, it happens again the second male employee says you've set off the alarm you may have a security tag on something, I explain that this has already happened today and the first employee left me to it, I explain all of the above to him while trying to make a joke out of it saying well its only my personal items in here and I haven't been shopping anywhere else, so what does he think it could be and he says 'well I don't know what's in your bag do I?', I reply 'yes I know that, I was just asking you a question in your experience as apart from today this has never happened to me before', he again says it could be cosmetics and at this point i'm already tired of I've been spoken to and treated so I don't bother saying I don't have any cosmetic in my bag. He offers to swipe my bag over the counter to "kill the security tag" (which is non existent), he does it twice - the alarm goes off, he looks at me like i've killed his cat and says well there's a security tag in there and I again explain this has happened earlier, it is only my personal items in my bag, I begin to show him what is in there (my jacket, my water bottle and keys) and that I was at work in-between that time and that I haven't been anywhere else shopping, so it's not possible. The entire time in this exchange he was flustering himself and getting himself worked up while being rude and hostile towards me for no reason. I leave again and the alarm doesn't go off. Someone I know went into the shop a few days ago and the same thing happened, so their security barriers are faulty and they like to try and persecute unknowing customers for their own faulty system. I will be in contact with the Brighton Store Manager as both of your male employees working that day and between those times spoke to me like I was an idiot and like I had done something wrong when there is actually something wrong with your shop equipment. It's disgusting how they spoke to me and treated me. Train your staff on how to speak to people - social skills and being polite are very basic.

Unpleasent experience. I went to buy a knife and was asked to show a driving licence or passport. Unfortunately, I don’t have a driving licence, and I usually don’t carry my passport when shopping. I asked the staff member if my UK eVisa (used for immigration purposes) could be accepted as ID, but it was not. It would be helpful if eVisas could be considered as valid identification to buy a KNIFE.
